Today we'll learn about noun, its kinds and about common noun and proper noun sentences.

Among all the 9 parts of speech, Noun is the first parts of speech.

First we will look at the definition of Noun.

What is Noun? 

Noun is a name of a person, an animal, a place or thing. All the naming words are known as Noun.

For example- Book, flower, school, mobile phone etc.

Noun is divided into 5 kinds:-

1. Proper noun
2. Common noun
3. Material noun
4. Collective noun
5.Abstract noun

● Proper noun- Proper noun is a name given to a particular person, animal or thing. It's always used in capital letter.

For example- Nivedita, Gorakhpur,  America etc.

In the above image,  you can see "Hibiscus flower " so the word "Hibiscus " is given to a particular flower that is why "Hibiscus" is a Proper noun. 

●Common noun- Common noun is a name given commonly to the same kind of persons or things.
For example - Students, doctors, politicians etc.

In this image,  you can see picture of a sapling which is full of flowers even though we don't know particular name of this sapling so this sapling is in common noun.

☆☆Difference between 
common noun and proper noun sentences:-☆☆

1》Proper noun shows particular name and common noun shows name used in general way.2》Proper noun always begins with initial capital letter and common noun begins with small letter unless it comes in the beginning of the sentence. 

●Material noun- Material noun shows matters from which the things made of.

For example- gold, water, iron,wood etc.

●Collective noun- Collective noun shows collection or group of anything.
For example- bunch, pride, swarm, troop etc.

●Abstract noun- Abstract noun shows emotions or feelings which can only be felt.
For example- honesty , loyalty,  truth, happiness etc.

■■Here are some questions to find 
common noun and proper noun in the following sentences:-

1- Mount Abu is the famous hill station in Rajasthan. 

Answer- Mount Abu and Rajasthan [Proper noun]
and
Hill station [Common noun]

2-India is a big country.

Answer- India [Proper noun] and
Country- [common noun]


3-John is one of the best boys of the class.

Answer- John [ Proper noun] and
Boys, class [ Common noun]
